United Martial Arts Associates Inc. was established in 1977 and is a Martial Arts Teachers Association member. We provide a full range of martial arts instruction for children and adults.

It is the goal of our organization to introduce the people of Cape Girardeau and the surrounding area to the many benefits of practicing the martial arts in a clean, safe and friendly atmosphere.

United Martial Arts Associates Inc. was recently ranked number one in the area by a Southeast Missourian Newspaper reader poll.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Schedule Change

The Friday night Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class has been changed to Tuesday night. Times remain the same.

Tuesday: 7-8pm

Class is still taught by Kip Brockett.

American Top Team Instructor Lawrence Fleming

The United Martial Arts Associates INC. is proud to have Lawrence  Fleming as the Head Instructor of  our Heartland Mixed Martial Arts Academy. Mr Fleming is a certified level 1 American Top Team Instructor, a certified series 1 Krav Maga Instructor, and he is a perfect fit for a mixed martial arts instructor due to his vast experience in various martial arts systems.  Mr Fleming has had training in the following martial arts systems Shodokan Karate,Tae Kwon Do, Hapkido, Judo ,Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do, Integrated Submission Wrestling, Kali, Escrima, American Freestyle Karate. In addition to all of these traditional martial arts systems   Due to his long career in law enforcement and as the   Tactical Instructor at Southeast Missouri State University Law Enforcement Academy. Mr Fleming has had many opportunities to broaden his martial arts knowledge. There is a continuing education program that is in place at the SEMO State University Law Enforcement Academy which keeps their  curriculum on the cutting edge and their instructors second to none. Mr Fleming, through  a program known as Pressure Point Control Tactics  has obtained Instructor Trainer status in the following: Defensive tactics, spontaneous knife defense, violent student management, Sexual harassment, Assault, rape prevention, and inmate control. Mr Fleming has many years training municipal, county, state, and federal law enforcement officers,United States Military personal as well as armature and professional mixed martial arts fighters.   HealthPpoint and the United Martial Arts Associates Inc. are very fortunate to have Mr Fleming and his Heartland Mixed Martial Arts Academy operating out of  HealthPoint Fitness .

Mason Pobst Advances to Yellow Belt

Mason Pobst has just passed the exam for advancement to yellow belt. He will be awarded the yellow belt in an after class ceremony at HealthPoint Plaza in the near future. Mason has already begun training for his gold belt which requires 12 class room hours. Congratulations Mason on your advancement to yellow belt and good luck on your quest for the  gold belt. All the UMAA staff stand ready to help you achieve that goal.

Kaya Newkirk Earns Orange Belt

Kaya Newkirk has been working  diligently to reach the orange belt rank.  His effort paid off this week as he passed his exam for orange belt with ease. Kaya will be receiving his orange belt in an after class awards ceremony soon.The United Martial Arts Academy staff salute Kaya for the effort he has put forth in achieving the orange belt rank. Great job Kaya!!!!

Ricki Vaughn Awarded the Tae Kwon Do Yellow Belt

Ricki Vaughn was awarded the Tae Kwon Do Yellow Belt during an awards ceremony Saturday March 22, 2008 at the HealthPoint Fitness Center . Ricki is a hard worker and attends classes regularly and  had no problem passing the yellow belt test with the minimum hours required.This is not an easy  accomplishment for a 5 year old. All the United Martial Arts Academy staff are proud of Ricki for this accomplishment. Good job!, Ricki we all think you are great!!!!

Katelyn Strange Advances to Green Belt

Katelnyn Strange has recently been awarded the Red jacket after meeting all the requirements for green belt. The red jacket and green belt indicate  she has moved beyond the beginner ranks into the intermediate ranks. The training gets a little tougher now and (red tops) are expected to take on leadership roles within the class. These leadership roles help the student build self confidence and reinforce the skills they have previously learned. Katelyn will be working towards the blue belt as her next goal. The skills for blue belt are a little more challenging but I have confidence that Katelyn will rise to the occasion, she always dose. Congratulations and good luck, Katelyn!!!!!!!

Christian, Michaela,and Jessica Hester Advance To Orange Belt

Christian, Michaela, and Jessica Hester were recently promoted to Orange Belt in an after class ceremony conducted at HealthPoint Plaza. These three siblings have been working hard to obtain the Orange Belt rank. Their hard worked paid off during their testing as they passed with high scores.They will begin training for the green belt ,which is considered an intermediate rank. They will be able to take the green belt test after 24 more classes.

Reiss Groves Earns Green Belt

Reiss Groves recently received his Green belt and red jacket. The green belt and red jacket indicate that a student has moved out of the novice stage  and into the intermediate stage of their training. By the time a student achieves this level ,their confidence has been boosted an they are ready to take on new challenges. Reiss’s next challenge is learning and refining the skills and patterns required for blue belt. Another challenge the “red tops” face is that of reinforcing the skills they have already learned by helping the “white tops ” learn the required skills for their next advancement. Reiss should have no problem in this area for he is always ready to take on a leadership role. All of the United Martial Arts Academy staff are ready and anxious to help Reiss continue his journey toward the coveted Black Belt. Great job Reiss!!!!!!!

Nick Pool Advances to Yellow Belt.

Nick Pool received his yellow belt during an after class awards ceremony recently. Nick breezed through the testing required for yellow belt. Nick works hard in class and pays close attention to detail. Nick is always eager to help the newer or younger students learn as well. Nick has a great attitude toward his training and will make a great Black Belt in the future. For the present the UMAA staff is working with Nick on the skills required for his next goal of gold belt. Congratulations on your promotion, Nick and good luck !!!!!!!
